I have an important message to share:
At least one of my opponents in this race has determined that the only way he can garner more votes than I do is to constantly bring up my past. I think this race should be won or lost on the issues, so I wont stoop to the level of retaliating against my accuser, but I shall set the record straight for all to see. I am 64 years of age and became a Christian as an adult in 1996. In the years prior to my acceptance of Jesus Christ as my personal savior, I describe myself as a Democrat and a heathen. My lifestyle was not what it should have been, and I had three children out of wedlock. In the years since, I have asked my children for forgiveness, and I have asked God for forgiveness, and I received that forgiveness from them all. In 1990, I entered into a relationship with the woman who ultimately became my first wife. When I became a Christian six years later, the Holy Spirit led me to know that our current living arrangement was out of Gods will, and we were married soon thereafter. I loved and remained faithful to her until her death from ovarian cancer in January of 2007. I married my wife, Rachel, in June 2008. Im not saying a mans character doesnt matter. It most definitely does matter. What I am saying is that God can and does indeed change hearts and lives, and He has changed mine. I will be happy to address any questions you have about this topic, or about any other concerns you have that may crop up between now and voting day. This election is the most important one of our lifetimes. I ask that you honor me with the opportunity to represent you, and, with Gods help and your support, I will do so to the very best of my ability.
Thank you,
Ron Harwell |
